The steady rise of copyright infringement , counterfeiting and piracy requires active intervention. Annual losses in billions worldwide and hundreds of thousands of vulnerable jobs, expansion of organized crime. The EU recommends measures and their implementation.

The existing associations and clubs prefer their information work and implement campaigns in the area of consumer protection and consumer education. Positive action and intervention is not possible for various reasons, or not wanted. Most organizations are nested and the decision-making processes that lead to the active actions are too long.

Contra Piracy arises from the need to take active measures. Measures that enable members support in the fight against piracy immediately. A neutral platform that allows exchange of skills to members and uses synergies.

In May 2009, Contra Piracy founded with the goal to carry out active combat piracy. The members are copyright owner, producers, professionals and companies with piracy -fighting background and piracy -fighting experience.

There are joint projects defined and implemented by means of know-how and expertise. Intervention, Tracing, Criminal Proceedings and collections are just as important as education and public relations.
